MGO 500+ manuka label

Brief// Label design development for a limited edition high-end MGO 500+ batch of Manuka Honey

Bee Coromandel is small artisan bee keeping outfit in Coromandel. All their honey goes through stringent lab tests. With this batch, the test showed they had harvested some very high quality Manuka Honey with strong medicinal properties. So they decided to release it as a small, exclusive, limited edition batch of only 200 jars with a specially designed label.

Solution/ Inline with the look and feel of their other labels and jars, a minimalist design was developed that emphasises the very high MGO rating of 500+ and the exclusivity of this product. The label features an understated black-label design with a big white number on the front. It is digitally printed in black and white on silver paper, and specific details are reversed out of the black and white print to allow the shiny, silver stock to show through.  As with their other packaging, a tamper proof seal on the lid wraps around onto the back of the jar. Environmental consideration played an important aspect during design development. Product number allocation and EAN-13 barcoding allow retailing through outfits like the local supermarket, while maintaining the core vision of keeping things “real, simple and local”.
