eco water trail
Brief// To develop 19 large interpretative panels and a guide system to iIlustrate and explain specific water related features along a 20 km walking trail, and to create promotional and educational material for the project (leaflet and project book)
Project/ Self-guided walking track around and through the town of Bodenburg focussing on its water features from an ecological point of view
Solution/ Phase 1 involved the design of a visual identity/brand (logo, stationary, etc.) for the trust, to enable them to raise the necessary funding. In phase 2 we developed a three colour screen print solution for the interpretative panels and guide system, a three colour offset leaflet and a project book with the complete information from all panels for use in the classroom.
Client/ Ökologischer Wasserlehrpfad Bodenburg Trust (Ecological water trail trust, Bodenburg, Germany)
Background/ Hans-Werner Kalkmann, a local artist in the town, realised the potential of integrating the various water related features found in and around Bodenburg, and creating an eco water trail. The aim was to raise public awareness of the ecological significance of water.
Weather stresses and the probability of vandalism of the signs was addressed by using a display casing with toughened glass which protects the panels and is easy to clean. Replacement panels were printed and kept ready for insertion. This allowed us to use a more light weight substrate for the inserted panel, which was easier to handle and cheaper to produce.
