the brief//
Develop a one page website for the inaugural year of a new arts festival on the Coromandel Peninsula.

background:
Creative Coromandel, an independent charitable trust advocating for the arts on the Coromandel Peninsula, identified the need to strengthen and invigorate the communities within the region after the traumatic effects of several disasters like COVID and Cyclone Gabrielle. The new 3 month event will be a key driver in this support.

The event will function as an umbrella or korowai (cloak) that embraces and ties together a multitude of independent artists, communities and events. It enables local artists and groups to be part of a bigger picture, and have a wider reach in the promotion of their individual events. Mostly it allows the region to identify as a whole, be promoted as a whole, and grow together stronger as a whole.

challenge:
Develop a simple stand-alone website that boldly shows off the new event brand without actually having any contents on it. Connecting it across to an existing event management system on the trust’s website where all the artists, locations and events of the festival reside as part of the trust’s overall database.

solution:
As an interim during the inaugural year of the new event, a simple stand-alone website was developed that strongly features the new brand. It provides contact, newsletter subscription, and a general description of the event. It also features a good media section with resources. It guide viewers across to the Creative Coromandel Trust’s website where the majority of event information is located as part of their exisiting event management system.
